![]() The AutoCAD program was first introduced in 1982, prior to the emergence of the graphical user interface (GUI), and before the widespread use of the personal computer. Additionally, the raster graphics are limited to a fixed size, whereas AutoCAD, and other vector graphics programs, can make use of memory on graphics cards and storage on hard disks. While raster graphics are the graphical output of computers used in graphics applications, vector graphics can be edited and edited by the user and can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. In contrast to the older “rasterized” graphics engines used by CAD programs before AutoCAD, AutoCAD is a vector graphics program. To avoid name-clash between the blocks, the AutoCAD developers have created a proprietary naming system for the blocks. AutoCAD uses a terminology called “blocks,” which are essentially reusable design elements. The core feature of AutoCAD is the ability to create, edit, and manage 2D and 3D drawings, 2D drafting plans and sections, and 3D models of real-world and digital environments. AutoCAD is a registered trademark of Autodesk, Inc. AutoCAD is an evolving program, incorporating design technologies that allow users to work in a mixed reality where digital, real-world, and augmented reality work together in various combinations. ![]()
